OVERVIEW
The proper use of logic in writing involves using both proper content and proper form. Legal
writers must be able to identify main arguments and make them clear and concise. They must
also be able to edit their work to avoid extra words and jargon. Arguments should focus on
making statements rather than asking questions. This assignment will provide the opportunity to
revise an argument so that it provides proper transitions and steps of reasoning while also being
grammatically sound.
INSTRUCTIONS
Read the following thesis statement/introduction below. Identify the central argument or
conclusion that the author attempts to establish. Then, organize the arguments in support of that
assertion in a grammatically and logically correct manner. Use legal reasoning either in
deductive or inductive form. Revise the thesis statement/introduction so that it makes non-
emotional, logically coherent arguments. The argument must emphasize reason. Make sure to
revise the grammatical mistakes as well. The assignment does not require any citations and no
additional research on the topic is necessary.

PLEASE CHOOSE TO ARGUE CLIMATE CHANGE (WRITER MUST BELIEVE IN CLIMATE CHANGE AND ARGUE IN FAVOR OF CHANGE ON THE MORAL SIDE)
You must choose a legal or moral issue to write about. If you are unsure whether the topic you are considering counts as a legal or moral issue, simply email me and ask. As with the first paper, you must also make sure that (a) you choose a topic that is open to debate, and (b) that you take a position on the issue, and then argue for it (rather than merely state what you believe).
The other requirement specific to this second paper is that you must construct at least one argument by analogysomewhere in the paper. Make sure that it is fully fleshed out and as detailed as possible (it should probably take up at least one full paragraph).

—————————————————————————————————–
What are you tasked with writing? What is the context? How is this different than other contexts you are familiar with?
What are some tips on the process you might take? What should you keep in mind for planning, research, and writing? How might this be different than other research or writing processes you might have experience with?
What are some difficulties you might anticipate in this project? What advice do you have for others to tackle these difficulties?
What news skills, strategies, techniques, or tools might you need to learn or build on? What resources and tools do you already have that will be helpful?
What counts as a source or evidence in this context? How can you best go about gathering, collecting, and citing sources in this context?

You can use any prompt, or mix up the prompts to make the writing easier.

For this assignment, choose two (2) websites that present information on the same subject. However, the two (2) websites should be aimed at different primary audiences. One website should be designed for a non-technical audience and the other for a technical/specialized audience.
Write a memo to your instructor analyzing both websites and their audiences (primary and secondary) and explain the persuasive strategies each website uses to serve its primary audience’s needs.
Synthesize your analysis to the following questions:
Note: You need to answer all of these questions; your failure to answer all questions will result in point deductions.
What primary audiences do the two websites seem to aim for? What kind of knowledge do the audiences seem to possess about the subject matter? What are their age(s), genders, education level, occupations, and cultural background?
Who are the secondary audiences of these websites? Who else might use information found on these sites?
